My Feelings: Virginia Tech Shooting in 2007

So today in government our teacher let the class watch a documentary about one of the survivors at the Virginia Tech shooting in 2007. I know this happened 5 years ago and no this definitely isn't the first time I've heard about it of course but today this documentary hit me hard...It was literally bothering me all day...it just opened my eyes a little bit more and hearing his story made it so much more powerful. His name was Colin Goddard and he was shot 4 times...
This is a picture of him:
He looks like an everyday person that you might see walking down the street that you wouldn't think twice about.

32 or 33 people were victim that day, they didn't have a choice...they all went to school worrying about something like what they were going to learn that day or how they were going to catch up on notes they forgot to take...I feel so deeply for these people because college kids shouldn't have to worry about someone coming and shooting people at their school. No one should have to worry about it. Colin made so many good points in this documentary one of them being how students should feel "safe" in their environment.

Personally I don't believe in guns, I never have, and I never will. We can't handle that much power...

I feel so bad for all the families that were affected by this shooting

Seung-Hui Cho, This is a picture of him:

He also looks like an everyday person. He did the shooting and there is no justification for his actions...Yes, he was bullied and had some serious mental illnesses. We all have our issues but causing so much pain and suffering to other people is most certainly not the way to handle it...

Honestly this world is cruel and unpredictable and no one can prevent bad things from happening but that goes for things like cancer and sickness but for someone to purposely take the lives and injure innocent people is just so sickening...
I'm ashamed to be of the same species as someone like him because we all are capable of doing evil whether it's shooting or bullying...
I feel almost guilty that there's nothing I can do about it except sit here and feel bad but I think the the worst part about it all is that this isn't the first school shooting and it unfortunately will not be the last
